A Sparkle cupcake for free, life’s good8

[Sparkle Cupcake]

On Wednesday night I went to a networking event called Online Divas. It’s aim was to connect women who own online businesses and provide a community to get support and advice.

It was unfortunate that the venue was oversold and therefore extremely overheated, one woman even fainted! There was a panel of women who spoke, however only one of them had their own business, and she’d just sold it to Fairfax. The others were from large companies like Google or Yahoo so I kind of wondered about the relevance.

It was disappointing that the Q&A section didn’t happen because it was just too hot in the room and I suspect a lot of the women actually attended for this reason.

So, what has this got to do with the cupcake? Well, events = goodie bags, right? So at the end of the night I made sure to scoop up a Sparkle Cupcake bag along with my goodie bag. I’ve heard a lot about Sparkle cupcakes; some good, some bad, some ugly. Just kidding, I couldn’t resist.

I’m not usually a cupcake lover as they’re almost always too dry for my liking. Surprisingly, I liked this one very much, although I’m quite partial to coconut so that was a major factor. The cake part was nice and moist – I suspect it has almond meal in it and the coconut icing was sweet and just the right thickness. I’m really glad I don’t live in Surry Hills or I may be tempted to eat them more often.

I also met some really nice ladies and it was exciting to hear how motivated and passionate they are about their businesses. There was Sarah who’s a personal stylist, how cool is that? Her site is The Beauty Tutor which I think is such a fab name. With such an intimate service it’s no surprise that she’s a friendly and easy going girl and of course very well dressed!

There was also Prue and her sister (sorry I’ve forgotten your name!) from Moovboot. They make luxury wellington boots lined with sheepskin that are actually fashionable too. Good news for my international readers beacuse they’ll be launching their range in London and New York first (they’ve just missed the Aussie Winter season). I bet they’ll be great for festivals.

Last but not least I met the very vivacious Sassi Sam. Her website is pink, pink, pink and very girlie! Sam’s put together a gorgeous set of must have items such as travel accessories, cute tops and beauty products. I love her phrase ‘sassi moment’ and she certainly lives by it, she was really fun.

Sorry this post has been a bit of a mixed bag, but stay tuned because there’s a gorgeous lamb rack recipe coming up that you don’t want to miss.

Happy eating! Christie
